The new year is right around the corner. If you are like most people you probably like to make new year’s resolutions and have a hard time sticking to them. If you want to start the new year off on a good note, and keep it going through the end of the year, try one of these easy new year’s resolutions for pregnancy.

Exercise More:

Exercise is a great way to help relieve pregnancy aches and pains and can even shorten your labor. If you already workout try adding a new routine or a new type of exercise. If you are new to exercising start small. Make sure to not overdo it. Before starting any new exercise program, or exercising in general, talk to your doctor so you know your limitations.

Better Nutrition:

Eating better doesn’t have to be hard. It also doesn’t have to be all or nothing. A good goal would be something small, like adding a serving or two of veggies to your daily intake or finding healthier snacks that still satisfy your cravings. If you don’t feel like adding anything new to your diet, try taking something out. Skip dessert or have water instead of soda or juice with your meal.

Maintaining a Healthy Pregnancy Weight:

This is not about losing weight. You have a baby inside you. Gaining weight while pregnant is almost guaranteed. Don’t go the other extreme either. You do not need to eat for two. You actually need a lot less than you may think. Your doctor will be able to tell you how many calories to add to your diet and how much weight you should expect to gain depending on your current size. The best thing you can do is focus on improving your nutrition and staying active and healthy.

Improve Organization:

This is a great time to get organized. Once the baby gets here it will be hard to find any free time. Focus on clearing any unnecessary clutter and only keep/get the bare essentials at first, such as diapers, a car seat, and comfortable clothes. Wait until your baby is born to see what else you want or need.

Dropping Bad Habits:

If you haven’t already quit smoking or stopped drinking this is the time to do so. Make sure any medications you are taking are okay to continue through your pregnancy. You want to do what you can to prevent any birth defects. If you have any questions or concerns consult your doctor.

Be in the Now:

This seems like an easy one at first, but to really stay in the moment can be a lot harder than you would expect. Stop dwelling on the past and worrying about the future. Be here and now and your stress levels should go down.

More Me Time:

You may find it hard to find time for yourself, but this is a really good one. Having time to relax, read a book, binge-watch your favorite series, these are all good ways to help keep the stress at bay.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck! Let us know if you have any easy resolution ideas below.
